Healthcare Coordinator

Key Role

The incumbent in this role supports the Healthcare team by providing the tools to implement and successfully execute GS1 Canada’s Healthcare Strategy. The individual will have regular interaction with staff, members, association representatives and other key stakeholder groups in the Healthcare sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and implementation of strategies and programs designed to inform industry stakeholders and government of GS1 Canada Healthcare initiatives ensuring strategic and tactical elements of the Healthcare Strategy are executed effectively and on time;
  • Conducts research and analysis and undertakes synthesis of information collected from various internal and external sources (e.g. healthcare journals, government departments, industry reports, stakeholder publications) in order to write and edit materials;
  • Coordinates all aspects of community and stakeholders to deliver healthcare initiatives in alignment with the healthcare strategy;
  • Supports creation of project plans and manages tasks against deliverables while collaborating with project management office for healthcare projects;
  • Researches and develops a range of high-quality communication products in a variety of formats (speaking notes, briefing materials, presentations, reports, Q&As, backgrounders, etc.) for both internal and external audiences;
  • Supports creation of communication plans and collaborates with Public Affairs and Marketing for Healthcare projects;
  • Writes copy and supports layout for:
    • External newsletters/articles for healthcare;
    • Websites
    • Online education modules
    • Email campaigns
    • Healthcare marketing collateral
  • Establishes relationship with external contacts involved with the delivery of the Healthcare Strategy and maintains key stakeholder contact information;
  • Provides on-site support for GS1 Canada Healthcare events;
  • Maintains a follow-up system to ensure project deliverables are achieved;
  • Prepares and proofreads reports and analyses and manipulates data as required;
  • Ensures departmental efficiencies in routine daily activities including travel arrangements, preparation and delivery of event logistics, meetings, etc;
  • Coordinates internal and external meeting management (i.e. request letters, follow-up correspondence, agendas, minutes and action items, information packages, thank you letters, etc);
  • Consistently strives to increase personal knowledge of GS1 Canada and stakeholder priorities and policy positions;
  • Performs various other duties as delegated or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Relevant University degree developing critical thinking, research and writing skills (i.e. Communications, Political Science etc.), with preference given to those with or working towards a post graduate diploma;
  • 2 – 3 years’ professional experience using advanced writing and editing skills developing high-quality communications documents as well as admin support to senior executives;
  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Internet, etc.);
  • Awareness and understanding of Canadian healthcare sector organizational structures and processes;
  • Demonstrated writing, editing and communication skills with strong proofreading and grammatical ability for different media, including web, email communications, brochures and educational collateral an asset;
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on tight and changing timelines with the ability to multitask and (re) prioritize;
  • Confident and experienced working with stakeholders and executive-level contact;
  • Proven verbal communications and presentation skills to present and discuss complex issues with clarity;
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and assimilate a good deal of information dealing with a variety of issues and subjects;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels;
  • Eager to learn new markets and develop relative core competencies to ensure organizational strategic and personal growth;
  • Working experience within Healthcare (provider/supplier) supply chain a strong asset;
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit suited for fast-paced, results-based environment requiring flexibility to ever-changing needs.
