Key Role
The primary focus of this role is to position GS1 Canada to meet sector and community needs, as well as meet corporate strategic objectives. The incumbent is a key senior member within the team mandated to make an integral contribution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes stakeholder initiatives, managing communities and working groups and directing implementation plans and projects;
- Establishes, builds and manages relationships with prospects and existing stakeholders within assigned sector(s) to identify and drive new opportunities as well as engage in incremental services;
- Secures and executes contract negotiations with existing and potential stakeholders;
- Ensures ongoing understanding of all emerging technologies and services provided by GS1 Canada and elsewhere;
- Participates in industry and government events associated with related sectors and provides strategic insight to internal stakeholders in order to deliver and maximize value;
- Defines product strategies and roadmaps by working with internal and external stakeholders;
- Prepares and leads project plans to ensure timely completion of deliverables through milestone setting, best practices and project management;
- Assists with the assessment of potential technical partners and assists with a partnership strategies and contracts;
- Ensures priorities of the team are managed and delivered, by directing and reviewing work, providing necessary training and development as well as preparing and delivering performance reviews as applicable;
- Provides leadership to foster a work environment where employees are highly motivated, hard working, superior contributors and view GS1 Canada as a career;
- Ensures that the team is consistently acquiring new skills as well as enhancing and growing the current skills within the group;
- Performs various other duties as delegated.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a diverse study program (i.e. Communications, Arts, Computer Science, etc.), with post graduate studies (i.e. MBA) an asset;
- At least five (5) years experience in a technical role in Supply Chain / Logistics / Solution Provider with demonstrated success defining and launching initiatives within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and with preference given to those with a background in category management, retailing and distribution;
- High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet, etc);
- Proven working knowledge of Project Management methodology;
- Passionate driver with proven influencing skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people at all levels to advance business priorities;
- Previous proven successes working in a fast-paced, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on tight timelines and delivery;
- Proven leadership skills and achievements that will effectively gain the confidence and support of internal and external stakeholders;
- Proven organizational abilities with strong attention to detail as well as effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
- Ability to facilitate discussions with a diverse stakeholder group and negotiate requirements;
- Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated, clear understanding of existing products offered by GS1 Canada;
- Bilingualism (French & English) an asset;
- Entrepreneurial spirit suitable for fast-paced, results oriented environment, requiring flexibility for ever-changing needs.
