GS1 Canada Applauds Nurses During National Nursing Week, May 12-18, 2008

TORONTO, ON, May 15, 2008 – GS1 Canada, Canada’s association for collaborative commerce and global supply chain standards, is pleased to recognize during National Nursing Week the invaluable contribution that nurses make to Canada’s healthcare system.

“Nurses play an integral role in our healthcare system,” said N. Arthur Smith, President & CEO of GS1 Canada. “Working long hours, they provide safe, quality, compassionate care to our family, friends and communities. On behalf of GS1 Canada I would like to take this opportunity to thank Canada’s nurses for the vital contribution they make to our health and well-being.”

GS1 Canada is doing its part to support the healthcare community by working with government, industry and healthcare providers such as nurses to create safe, efficient and cost-effective supply chains through the adoption of global standards and improvements, enabling nurses to spend more of their time providing care and less time on administrative tasks.

From June 17-19, 2008, GS1 Canada is host country for the GS1 Healthcare Conference in Toronto, Ontario, featuring experts and speakers from around the world. This conference will focus on measures to improve supply chain management in the healthcare sector, enhancing patient safety, safeguarding against counterfeit drugs, reducing medication errors and tracking critical equipment.
