Recognizing Leadership in Supply Chain Management

TORONTO, ON, June 10, 2008 – Nominations for the 2008 Supply Chain Efficiency Award are now open. The award recognizes members of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) who have successfully introduced a standards-based technology solution within their organization’s supply chain.

Last year’s winner, Colemans Food Centre, received extensive exposure and promotion of their organization and solution through media coverage and various forms of marketing and communication materials. Winners will also receive a complimentary membership to GS1 Canada for a three-year period and an award seal to use in their marketing collateral.

To be eligible for the award, applicants must be a CFIG member. Criteria for judging includes (but is not limited to) addressing suppliers or trading partners, assisting with organization transformation, cost savings, efficiency improvements, enhanced customer service, improved organizational effectiveness, improved sales or revenues and time savings.

“This award is an important opportunity to honour and celebrate companies that have taken the steps to proactively implement more efficient supply chain management technology,” said N. Arthur Smith, President and CEO of GS1 Canada. “Electronic business processes have the potential to improve business processes from within, as well as increasing efficiencies across the supply chain; reducing errors and costs.”

Entries will be accepted until September 19, 2008. Three finalists will be announced on October 1, 2008 and the winner will be announced at CFIG’s Grocery Innovations Canada, Canada’s premier grocery conference and trade show at the Toronto Congress Centre in Toronto, Ontario on October 26-27, 2008.
