GS1 Canada Selected as Finalist in VICS 10th Annual Collaborative Commerce Achievement Awards

TORONTO, ON, May 15, 2007 – GS1 Canada, Canada’s experts in collaborative commerce and global standards, today announced that it has been selected as one of three finalists in the Supply Chain Excellence Category of the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards (VICS) Association 10th Annual Collaborative Commerce Achievement Awards.

GS1 Canada has been selected based on an entry that outlines the development and implementation of ECCnet Registry. From the consumer unit all the way to pallet configuration,
ECCnet Registry permits suppliers to maintain accurate product information in one central registry. Today, product listing through ECCnet Registry is a standard term of condition of trade in the Canadian grocery, pharmacy and foodservice sectors. More than 400,000 products are listed in the Registry.

“It is an honour to be recognized for our efforts in the development of ECCnet Registry,” said
N. Arthur Smith, CEO, GS1 Canada. “We are committed to improving our industry through innovative technology and are proud to have been acknowledged for it.”

The VICS Collaborative Commerce Achievement Awards rank among the most prestigious in retailing, consumer goods, and related industries. The competition is open to all companies across retail, consumer goods, and related third-party providers such as, logistics and technology companies. The awards are designed to identify and reward excellence in supply chain collaboration. The Supply Chain Excellence Award is presented to a company that has achieved excellence integrating supply chain practices (planning, forecasting, order management, transportation, inventory control, distribution or stocking), resulting in improved customer services, reduced cost and speed to market.

The winners of the 10th annual VICS Collaborative Commerce Achievement Awards will be announced at the achievement awards ceremony at the UConnect Conference on June 4, 2007.
