Leading Canadian retailers participating on the GS1 Canada General Merchandise, Apparel and Hardlines Sector Board have announced their commitment to collaboration with their trading partners on the adoption of GS1 Canada product data management services.

These services provide a framework for achieving supply chain and operational efficiencies in the General Merchandise and Hardlines sectors based on the use of accurate, global standards-based product data.

2. Why is this initiative so important and why should my organization get involved?

In today's data-driven marketplace, leading businesses recognize that effective data management tools are key to driving results. That is why several Canadian retailers have announced plans to collaborate with trading partners on the use of GS1 Canada product data management services, centralized solutions managed by GS1 Canada on behalf of industry.

From getting products onto shelves faster, to enhancing product recall processes, to improving marketing and advertising, this industry–wide initiative is about achieving business efficiencies based on the use of accurate, global-standards-based product data. 8. I am a small business. Do I need a GS1 Company Prefix Licence to use GS1 Canada Services?

If you are a small to medium-sized business with annual revenues under $500,000, you are eligible to access GS1 Canada services with a GS1 Canada Licence – available at an ‘Individual’ and a ‘Basic’ licence level depending on annual gross revenue.  Learn more about GS1 Licensing options

9. How much will this cost my organization?
