GS1 Canada is proud to honour those who have implemented best practices in supply chain and/or asset management within their organization. GS1 Canada’s Supply Chain Efficiency Award encourages the progression towards the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the operations of the supply chain as efficiently as possible. GS1 Canada has also been the recipient of honours within the community and industry that have recognized our continued efforts in improving our industry through innovative technology.

GS1 Canada Awards

GS1 Canada Supply Chain Efficiency Award - The GS1 Canada Supply Chain Efficiency Award honours members of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) who have been instrumental in introducing a standards-based, technology solution within their organization’s supply chain. Recipients are awarded for their dedication to standards and community engagement. Stong’s Market has been a Canadian grocery fixture since the1890s. The first store in Vancouver opened its doors in 1943, and ever since then, the independent grocer has been providing customers with fresh produce, brand name products and a unique selection of gourmet, natural and organic products.

On October 20, 1955, Freson Market Ltd. opened its first butcher shop in Hinton Alberta. The butcher shop further evolved into a meat and produce store, which then expanded into a three department grocery store. Freson Bros. IGA plans to broaden their market with stores in fifteen communities across Alberta.

The Country Grocer, Ottawa, ON - Since 1995, The Country Grocer has been successfully serving customers with their retail store and catering services. The Country Grocer was the first Ottawa-area supermarket to offer their products via the Internet for pick up or home delivery.

Colemans Food Centre, Corner Brook, NL — Established in 1934, Colemans operates 12 corporately owned retail food outlets throughout Newfoundland including its own warehouse distribution centre.

GS1 Canada Honours

	GS1 Business Case Award GS1 Canada received global recognition when it was honoured with the GS1 Business Case Award for its leadership in establishing ECCnet Image & Validation services, standards and solutions for product image and dimension specifications. GS1 Global Office grants this prestigious award to leading edge GS1 member organizations that have successfully implemented projects using GS1 global standards for the benefit of businesses around the world
	Canadian Information Productivity Award (CIPA) GS1 Canada was honoured with the 2006 Canadian Information Productivity Gold Award (CIPA) of Excellence, in the Organizational Transformation, Not for Profit category. GS1 Canada is honoured to be awarded the CIPA Gold Award of Excellence for the development of ECCnet Registry, Canada’s national product registry
	Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards Collaborative Commerce Achievement Award GS1 Canada was selected as one of three finalists in the Supply Chain Excellence Category of the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards (VICS) Association 10th Annual Collaborative Commerce Achievement Awards. GS1 Canada was selected based on an entry that outlines the development and implementation of ECCnet Registry, Canada’s national product registry.
