Winner of 2006 GS1 Canada Supply Chain Efficiency Award Announced

TORONTO, ON, October 24, 2006 – GS1 Canada, Canada’s experts in collaborative commerce and global supply chain standards, announced Quality Foods of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia as the winner of the first GS1 Canada Supply Chain Efficiency Award. The winner was revealed at Grocery Innovations Canada 2006 at "An Evening with Justin Trudeau Gala" on Monday, October 23, 2006.

First announced at Grocery Innovations Canada 2005, Canada’s premier grocery industry exposition and conference, the award is designed to recognize members of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) who have successfully introduced a standards-based, technology solution within their organization’s supply chain.

Quality Foods is a privately held, independent food company located exclusively on Vancouver Island, operating nine retail food stores and a self-distribution facility in Errington, British Columbia. Quality Foods has demonstrated that they have been instrumental in introducing a standards-based, technology solution within their organization’s supply chain. By implementing technology solutions that follow items from time of purchase to the customer’s door, they have improved organizational effectiveness and sales, and have also achieved savings in cost and time.

As the award winner, Quality Foods will receive complimentary membership to GS1 Canada for a
three-year period, extensive coverage and promotion of their organization and solution through various forms of marketing into and throughout 2007, and use of an award seal for their marketing collateral.

GS1 Canada appreciates the continued support of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers. Grocery Innovations Canada represents an excellent opportunity for members of the supply chain to come together and learn from each other’s strengths and innovations. GS1 Canada thanks all companies who submitted an entry for the GS1 Canada Supply Chain Efficiency Award, and look forward to an even more robust competition in 2007.
