GS1 Canada Announces New Chair, Executives to its Board of Governors
TORONTO, ON - May 1, 2013 - GS1 Canada continues to underscore its commitment to helping industry build smarter and more efficient supply chains through the appointment of a new Chair and two executives to its Board of Governors:
- John Rothschild, CEO, Prime Restaurants Inc. (Chair)
- Peter McMahon, Executive Vice President, COO, Loblaw Companies Ltd.
- Jim Noteboom, Senior Vice President, Business Analytics and Financial Services, Shoppers Drug Mart
"With their vision and experience, these individuals will be key contributors to the strategic direction of our organization as we continue to work with industry across sectors to support adoption of global GS1 standards,” said N. Arthur Smith, President and CEO, GS1 Canada.
John Rothschild, CEO
Prime Restaurants Inc.
John Rothschild is an accomplished foodservice industry leader with more than 20 years experience in the restaurant industry. He has held the position of Chief Executive Officer for Prime Restaurants Inc. since 1993, and currently oversees the operations of 170 Prime restaurants throughout North America. Prior to joining Prime, he was President for Rothschild Holdings Ltd., where he gained extensive experience in business operations and capital development. In addition to his extensive restaurant industry experience, Mr. Rothschild has served as Director to both the National Restaurant Association in the US and the Canadian Restaurant and Food Services Association. A chartered accountant, Mr. Rothschild earned a master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Richard Ivey School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
Peter McMahon, Executive Vice President, COO
Loblaw Companies Ltd.
Peter McMahon leads the Retail Central Services team at Loblaw, focused on the company’s SAP, technology and process transformation plans, to drive efficiencies from the supply chain to stores. His priority is managing the implementation of SAP across the enterprise, the largest retail SAP deployment in North America. Since joining Loblaw in February 2006, Mr. McMahon has successfully modernized the company’s IT infrastructure and rebuilt Loblaw’s supply chain to its current level of efficiency. Mr. McMahon has a distinguished career in the retail business spanning more than 30 years, over 20 of which were spent in supply chain services.
Jim Noteboom, Senior Vice President, Business Analytics and Financial Services
Shoppers Drug Mart
Jim Noteboom is Senior Vice-President, Business Analytics and Financial Services at Shoppers Drug Mart. He is responsible for Canada’s leading loyalty program, Optimum, with more than 10 million cardholders. Prior to working at Shoppers Drug Mart, he held executive positions at JPMorgan Investment Bank in London (UK) and A.S. Watson Health & Beauty Europe (Hutchison Whampoa of Hong Kong). Mr. Noteboom earned an MBA in Business Economics from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and a post-doctorate Accountancy degree from the University of Brabant in the Netherlands.
