Work With Us

GS1 Canada’s roots stretch back to 1975 with the establishment of the Product Code Council of Canada. In 1997 visionary industry leader Art Smith spearheaded the merger of the PCC and Electronic Interchange Council to become the Electronic Commerce Council of Canada. In 2004 the ECCC in turn united with its international counterparts as GS1 Canada.

Now a journey spanning over 40 years, GS1 Canada has continued to grow and innovate. Today we employ 240 people between our Toronto and Montreal offices in the service of industry across a variety of sectors from Foodservice to Healthcare and more.

At GS1 Canada we serve our subscribers and our community through five values:

  • Integrity Always: We do the right thing for the benefit of each other, our team and for the communities and Canadians we serve. We are fair, honest and loyal. We value and respect individual differences, strengths, personal motivations and family priorities.
  • Super-serve Subscribers: We work on behalf of our subscribers and listen to their needs. We understand their business challenges, understand their reality and work together to implement solutions. We know what our subscribers need and in everything we do seek to make their lives easier.
  • Inclusive Collaboration: We are friendly, passionate team players who build trusting relationships in a welcoming environment. We believe in each other, have each other’s backs and are optimistic about our capabilities. We share information and know-how to achieve goals and we celebrate shared success.
  • Innovation: We navigate ambiguity with agility and say what we think to challenge the status quo. We take advantage of obstacles and mistakes as an opportunity to learn and move forward. We seek out varied opinions and are willing to trust and try out different approaches.
  • Accountability: We are committed, energetic and hold ourselves and each other accountable to go the extra mile to deliver results. We are solutions focused, resilient and tenacious. We make promises and commitments with care to ensure we consistently deliver with quality.

We believe in the power of standards to transform the way we live and work.

We strive to protect our culture and maintain an inclusive environment in which all team members are enabled to fulfill their potential. GS1 Canada is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals. Please be advised that only candidates being considered for an interview will be contacted.

You do not want just any job. You want the right job. Take some time to prepare to put your best foot forward with these helpful tips:

  • Do your research on GS1 Canada. Do your values align with ours? This is an important part of working at GS1 Canada.
  • Apply only to the roles you are genuinely interested in—applying for all open roles indicates your strengths do not match our specific needs.
  • Read the job description and identify where your experience matches. Be realistic—if a position requires 10 years of experience and you only have three, then it is highly unlikely that you can get the position.
  • Make sure your resume is up-to-date and error free. Our preference is for chronologically ordered experience with clearly identified job titles and dates. We receive hundreds of resumes and do not want to hunt for your information.
  • If you include a cover letter take the time to tailor it to GS1 Canada—it makes a difference.
  • Include your email address and telephone number to make it easy to connect with you.
  • We do encourage employee referrals. Check your network and see if you know anyone who works with us.
